Position summary:

Responsible for leading, overseeing, or performing engineering design using advanced knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate assignments with limited supervision. Acts as a technical advisor and mentor to less experienced engineers.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design for multiple concurrent projects and tasks for your discipline.
  • Assist Project Manager with consultative services to the client by understanding client requirements, recommendations, and solutions to enhance client experience.
  • Attends client meetings or interviews in support of project manager.
  • Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope.
  • Design projects using advanced discipline knowledge, client specifications and guidelines using design software and drawing tools.
  • Develop solutions to complex problems and share best practices/lessons learned on a wide scale (company, client, or industry)
  • Defining parameters, reviewing, and presenting alternative studies based on experience and advanced engineering knowledge.
  • Prepare or lead the preparation of engineering documents, technical reports, memos, etc.
  • Evaluate and collaborate on discipline’s workflow and standard operating procedures to increase efficiency.
  • Perform and check design computations.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
  • Field work is required on occasions where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs.) may be required as needed.
