Description

Mselect is looking to hire a Landscaping Specialist for a national oil and gas operator in Doha, Qatar. Candidates must have a minimum of 15 years of relevant oil and gas industry experience in a similar role. Fluency in English is a must.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership and Project Oversight:
    • Responsible for overseeing the landscaping design, project tendering and implementation, ensuring alignment with project goals
    • Responsible for leading a team of in-house landscape professionals, providing training and guidance to ensure high-quality results
    • Responsible for monitoring the progress of landscape-related activities during construction to confirm adherence to approved designs and specifications
    • Responsible for identifying potential issues in submissions or implementation and proposing solutions promptly
  • Technical Review:
    • Accountable for assessing landscape design submissions by specialist consultants/contractors, including plans, specifications, and reports, for compliance with project goals, environmental regulations, and technical standards
    • Responsible for reviewing consultant/contractor soil analysis and proposed vegetation, assisting consultant/contractor to develop and implement strategies for sustainable plant growth in arid climates
    • Accountable for evaluating site analysis data (e.g. soil conditions, vegetation surveys, drainage) provided by designers to ensure accuracy and relevance
  • Collaboration and Coordination:
    • Accountable for collaborating with stakeholders including landscape designers, architects, engineers, and contractors engineers to deliver the project in accordance with the approved concept
    • Responsible for providing inputs in creating innovative, functional, and aesthetically pleasing landscape design while ensuring seamless integration of design elements with infrastructure
    • Responsible for providing feedback to designers on revisions needed to align with the project’s vision and technical requirements
    • Quality Assurance:
    • Responsible for ensuring the landscape designs incorporate sustainable practices, such as water conservation strategies and native plantings
    • Responsible for verifying the submissions adhere to safety codes, universal access standards, and environmental impact assessments
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Responsible for preparing detailed reviews and recommendations for submission approvals or revisions
    • Responsible for maintaining records of all reviewed documents and providing regular updates to project stakeholders
  • Maintenance Planning:
    • Responsible for assisting in developing long-term maintenance plans for soil health, irrigation systems, and plant care
  • Compliance:
    • Responsible for ensuring adherence to local environmental regulations and sustainability standards
  • Other Miscellaneous:
    • Plan and coordinate activities of a team of engineers for providing technical services, including review of execution strategies
    • Approve/endorse technical deviations/waivers/variations to approved guidelines, codes, standards and practices
    • Support to ensure that all applicable environmental and process and other safety technical policies are fully implemented
    • Support development of competencies and skills in his area including structured training for Engineers under development

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Environmental Science, or related fields
  • Relevant accreditations with international/national organizations preferred
  • 15 years of relevant post-graduate experience
  • Proven experience of a minimum of 10 years in designing/reviewing/supervising/managing large-scale landscaping projects in the GCC region
  • In-depth knowledge of native plants, soil conditions, irrigation systems, and sustainable landscaping techniques specific to arid climates/GCC region
  • Proficiency in Landscape Design software
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations
  • Strong communication skills for stakeholder collaboration
  • Strong leadership and project technical management skills

Key Responsibilities:

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in traffic engineering design, planning, and analysis
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) from an ABET-accredited program
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in South Carolina
  • In-depth experience working with SCDOT and understanding of their policies and publications
  • Familiarity with traffic analysis/simulation tools (e.g., Synchro, HCS, VISSIM, etc.)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and general engineering software packages
  • Strong communication, leadership, and client-facing skills
Preferred:

  • Certified Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) credential

  • Certifications: PMP (Project Management Professional) or CEM (Certified Energy Manager)
  • Prior experience with energy design and field operations
  • Familiarity with local, regional, and state energy market players and regulations
  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary project teams

Working Conditions:

  • 80% of work will be performed in an office environment (hybrid model may apply)
  • 20% may include site visits, sometimes in varying weather conditions
  • Occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs) and light fieldwork may be required
