mselect is looking to hire a Construction Supervisor – Civil for a national oil and gas operator in Doha, Qatar. Key Responsibilities

  • Monitoring all related activities within the project site, conducting regular inspections, and ensuring that the work being carried out is in line with approved JHA, Risk Assessment, Method Statement and approved Permit to Work System as well as the latest instructions
  • Responsible for identifying and implementing risk reduction measures in all areas and phases of construction
  • To assist in checking and reviewing work Method Statement, JHA, Safety Certification and other related documents submitted by Project Consultant/Contractors
  • To take necessary actions in case of any lapse and/or delays of work progress behind the approved Schedule, including reporting to the Supervisor and proposing actions to recover the delays
  • Ability to successfully manage and coordinate construction site works between Civil, Structural and Infrastructure works on one side and other disciplines on the other side
  • Supervises and coordinates with contractors to achieve the Project's Overall Safety Goal Recommends appropriate solutions and proposes changes as necessary
  • Attends meetings with contractors, sub-contractors and vendors to review work site progress every week or more frequently as required Analyses and addresses critical areas and prompt solution
  • Ability to perform field inspection, survey, review, advice and propose administrative close-out precautions
  • Ensure that safety regulations for contractors, project safety plans and environmental rules are understood and followed by the contractors
  • Ability to work effectively with various personnel and in the team with flexibility in work assignment
  • Ability to undertake and coordinate accidents and incidents investigations
  • Provide guidance and technical assistance to contractors
  • Encounter issues that are multi-disciplinary while working as a construction focal point for a project
  • Interact with internal departments and contractors involving discussion of project information, possible solutions to problems and coordination of work
  • Update daily and weekly construction progress reports for assigned projects and verify contractors' progress statements for accuracy
  • Co-ordinate with concerned parties to resolve routine site issues and refer technical queries to senior construction supervisor

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in the construction of Civil, Infrastructure and Complex Structures projects (Mega Projects), specifically High-Rise Towers
  • Adequate background/knowledge of the Oil & Gas Industry’s requirements related to executing major projects within onshore Oil & Gas fields
  • Familiar with Local, National & International Codes, Standards and Specifications
  • Can adequately review Engineering drawings, Detailed Design drawings, Shop drawings, and related calculations for Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Experienced in construction and site management of structural/civil works for high-rise tower projects in marine environments as per approved design requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the site construction/installation of work of relevant engineering disciplines of assigned Construction/EPIC contract and ensure that the work is carried out safely and in compliance with the Scope of Work, approved Engineering Standards and Specifications

  • Co-ordinate pre-commissioning, and MCC activities and assist during the commissioning of facilities Initiate Mechanical Completion Certificates (MCC), Hand over Certificates, and Acceptance Certificates (AC), and facilitate the issuance of Project Completion & Discharge Certificates
  • To prepare daily reports of activities and inform asset holders (as per approved distribution matrix) of the progress/constraints and look ahead Co-ordinate with concerned parties daily to resolve routine site issues and refer technical queries to the Senior Construction Supervisor and Senior Project Engineer, update daily and weekly construction progress reports for assigned projects and verify contractors’ progress statements for accuracy by having regular discussions with contractor to ensure up to date progress information is maintained
  • Assist the concerned Senior Construction supervisor in analyzing and subsequently recommending a resolution to construction-related contractor claims issues Interacts, continuously with departments and contractors to manage functional interfaces and recommend a resolution to construction-related problems
  • Deal with routine as well as complex multi-disciplinary issues requiring reasonable problem-solving skills and mental demands

Requirements

  • BSc in an Engineering discipline from a recognized University in relevant engineering Discipline with extensive construction-related experience Good skills in construction management, effective communication, conflict resolution

Client, a leader in the development and operation of renewable and conventional power generation, as well as a bio-fuel pellet facility, is looking for an Asset Manager to join its Buffalo Grove, IL-based Asset Management team. The successful candidate will possess strong management skills, a strong technical background, and a basic understanding of the mechanics of North American energy markets. Responsibilities:

  • Manage and optimize financial, contractual and regulatory aspects of a diverse portfolio of electrical generation assets and a bio-fuel pellet facility.
  • Interface as needed with corporate team, plant personnel, partners, service providers, Independent System Operators, customers and consultants in managing day to day operations.
  • Support back end settlement process for electrical energy and capacity sales as well as environmental emission transactions.
  • Develop and manage project budgets.
  • Non-remote. Must be able to come into the office, M-F, 8am - 5pm

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Strong quantitative and analytics background, preferably energy and fuel markets related.
  • Basic understanding of physical and financial electricity, congestion, natural gas, emissions, and market design in one or more of the North American control areas.
  • Basic understanding of energy, capacity and emission markets.
  • Robust oral and written communication skills.
  • Familiar with market rules governing North American physical and financial energy transactions.
  • Five (5) years’ experience managing or operating generation assets in one or more of the North American ISOs.
  • Two (2) years’ experience with NERC compliance in a management role or as a subject matter expert.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent quantitative analytical experience.
