About the Role:

  • Our client, a top-ranked engineering and infrastructure services provider, is seeking a Civil Engineer to support aviation infrastructure projects nationwide. The ideal candidate will contribute to landside civil design and project management for airports, working closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and subconsultants.
  • You’ll take on responsibilities in design, technical documentation, construction cost estimating, and project coordination for civil components supporting aviation clients. As your role evolves, you’ll also gain opportunities for task management and leadership in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Technical Documentation
    • Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and quantity/cost estimates
    • Analyze topographic data, aerial photos, surveys, maps, and blueprints to plan civil works
    • Conduct design computations for grading, drainage, paving, and site development
    • Ensure project outputs adhere to quality control and organizational standards
    • Prepare and update technical specifications
  • Project Coordination & Communication
    • Serve as task lead for specific civil components on aviation projects
    • Coordinate and manage input from internal disciplines and external subconsultants
    • Organize and lead project and stakeholder meetings
    • Provide timely project updates to leadership and clients

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited program
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License or equivalent credential
  • 4–8 years’ experience in civil engineering design
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Bentley Open Roads Designer/MicroStation
  • Experience with construction cost estimating and technical specification writing
  • Demonstrated task management experience in an engineering environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with FAA Advisory Circulars, Engineering Briefs, and Orders
  • Experience with DoD Unified Facilities Criteria
  • Background in road/highway design is a plus
  • Project team leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Knowledge of project management principles (budgeting, scheduling, etc.)

Tools & Software:

  • AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley Open Roads Designer / MicroStation
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily office or hybrid work environment

  • In this position, the Land Development Engineer leads the technical design for an interdisciplinary team of civil engineers, project planners, and CAD designers.
  • This position reports directly to the Director of the Land Development Department.
  • Candidates should be engineers or designers with a high technical competency experienced in land development projects, sustainable design, utility design, and stormwater management design.
  • The ideal candidate is experienced with the unique requirements of design and permitting for development projects, including schools and other institutional projects, and commercial/retail projects.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s (Required)
  • Experience: Civil engineering: 5 years (Required)
  • Language: English (Required)
  • Minimum 3 years of design experience on land development projects
  • K-12 site design experience a plus (but not required)
  • Proficiency with Civil 3D and Office 360 products (Excel, Word, etc.)

TYPICAL DUTIES:

  • Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Leads a team in the preparation of project drawings, calculations, and specifications.
  • Prepares engineering analysis, design, calculations, and reports
  • Evaluates land use and zoning requirements and is familiar with zoning ordinances and site plan approval processes.
  • Prepares permit applications and is responsible for working through agency review processes and obtaining approvals.
  • Makes occasional site visits during the construction phase of the work to assess progress and quality of construction.
  • Works with dynamic design teams including the owner/developer, architects, landscape architects, engineering trades, and contractors.
