DUTIES/RESPONSIBIOLITIES

  • Develop new tire compounds to meet the optimal performance required for customer approvals.
  • Maintain and enhance performance of existing tire compounds to meet customer expectations.
  • Design laboratory studies to evaluate new compound technologies.
  • Seek out new materials technologies.
  • Perform forensic analysis on both new and tested products.
  • Work closely with development engineers on all OEM and Replacement projects concerning compound selections and performance expectations.
  • Travel to plants to assist in new compound development and processing studies as required.
  • Communicate directly with other company R&D centers as required.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • The ability to work with cross-functional and international teams is a must.
  • Knowledge of plant-related activities concerning compound mixing, extrusion, calendaring, tire building and curing processes is a must.
  • The ability to work directly with plant compound specialists, production teams and process engineers is a must.
  • Experience and knowledge concerning polymers, fillers, and reinforcements is a must.
  • A strong understanding of sustainability efforts in the tire industry is required
  • Domestic and international travel is required.  A current passport is required.
  • Lean, Quality and On Time Delivery approach Skills and experience are required.
  • Self-managed, dynamic, and willing to make the extra effort to push for success is required.
  • Knowledge of regulatory issues concerning materials and tires is strongly desirable.
  • Proficiency in the statistical design of experiments is preferred.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • BS, MS, or PhD degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry
  • Knowledge of tire design and/or standards are required.
  • Knowledge of OE product development is required.
  • Exposure to OE plant development and having a broad base of knowledge in compounding science.
  • 5-15 years’ experience in OEM compound development.

JOB SUMMARY

  • Responsible for managing and executing tire vehicle testing within North America for Kumho America Technical Center (KATC). This includes scheduling, obtaining quotes, acquiring test vehicles and wheels, ordering necessary benchmark tires, collecting test data, creating official test reports, and communicating results back to the requested tire engineer. Ability and willingness to travel within North America to test sites as programs dictate. Working with other KATC test drivers as well as other OEM test drivers to correlate testing procedures and evaluations. Collaborate with KATC tire engineers to continuously improve data collection process. Communicate with KATC warehouse technician to assist with shipping desired tires and or wheels.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage North America internal vehicle testing primarily Ride and Handling
  • Schedule test tracks and obtain quotes through Proving Grounds
  • Acquire test vehicles (rent/lease) and wheels (rent or KATC inventory)
  • Arrange tire/wheel mounting and shipment to and from Proving Grounds
  • Collect test data at Proving Ground, create reports and communicate results
  • Manage North America external testing with third party test evaluators
  • Manage and schedule snow handling and traction testing
  • Collaborate with tire engineers to improve data collection process
  • Align with other Kumho test drivers for consistent test procedures and evaluations
  • Ability and willingness to travel to proving grounds as programs dictate

REQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES / EDUCATION

  • 4-year Bachelors Degree in a technical field
  • Prior tire test driver experience for vehicle testing (3+ years)
  • Computer (Microsoft Office) skills in data acquisition and analysis.
  • Able to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Motivated, engaged, communicative and willing to learn new methods and technology in testing.

DESIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES / EDUCATION

  • Prior experience with Automotive OEM tire testing

  • The Application Support Engineering role specializes in maintaining and providing technical support for all applications that are beyond the development stage and are running in the daily operations of the firm.
  • Works closely with development teams, infrastructure partners, and internal / external clients to raise and resolve technical support incidents.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Experience with using ITIL Change, Incident and Problem management processes.
  • Resolve critical production issues by leading Major Incident calls, engaging accurate teams, and driving root cause analysis.
  • Troubleshoot and debug system component(s) to resolve technical issues in sophisticated and highly regulated environments comprised of ground and cloud applications and services.
  • Analyze proposed application design(s) and provide feedback on potential gaps or provide recommendations for optimization.
  • Contribute to Monthly Service Reviews (MSR) with Development partners to go over KPI metrics.
