Description:

Design, specification and testing of automated modified atmosphere packaging machines and systems involving flexible film tracking, heat sealing technologies, conveying systems, product handling and scale systems. Plans, directs, coordinates and at times performs activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical systems. Experienced in a dual development and production environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform mechanical design and engineering work on new products, special products, proposals and customer orders as assigned by supervisor; provide work direction to mechanical designer/drafters as appropriate.
  • Strong knowledge of Solidworks for design and data storage and management.
  • Understanding of INFOR CRM software for BOM creation,
  • Perform engineering calculations (mass and energy balance, load, strength, etc.) as required to complete assigned tasks.
  • Determine and specify mechanical components, materials, instrument requirements, special instructions and manual content for new product design projects and customer orders ensuring the proper preparation and accuracy of all design documentation.
  • Perform regular quality and design conformance inspections on work-in-process on manufacturing floor. Initiate action and assist providing technical direction to resolve product configuration and/or performance discrepancies.
  • Utilize software such as Excel to manage projects, create macros and other formulas to streamline processes.
  • Works well within a team environment but can also be self-directed when required.
  • Participate in other special projects as assigned supporting department activities, overall goals and objectives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor\'s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent work experience in capital equipment design and service.
  • 5-10 years of related mechanical design experience.
  • Proficient in the use of CAD software for design documentation utilizing SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD or similar system.
  • Ability to develop reporting macros to better export to secondary programs such as CRM.
  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes for fabricating parts and component selection for the meat products and food industries.
  • Experience in food packaging, wash down requirements, line integration, and scaling systems, specific experience in the flexible packaging or packaging industry a plus.
  • Good organization, communication, analytical and project management skills. Good verbal and written skills utilizing office software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel to create macros and other formulas.
  • Valid drivers license and ability to travel, up to 10%, including internationally.

Description

  • Set up and operate CNC Lathes. Plan, construct, alter and repair a wide variety of fixtures and tools. Work from existing programs, equipment manuals, prints, work orders and instructions.
  • Work with engineering personnel and operators to coordinate machining of work pieces.
  • Set up equipment using common hand tools, set controls and input program instructions to get maximum capacity out of equipment.
  • Insert and indicate in tooling, modify programs as necessary and operate equipment.
  • Run test samples and check with required tooling as necessary, monitor equipment operation and make operating adjustments as required.
  • Gauge finished work piece to ensure part is within tolerances.
  • Finish work piece using grinders, mills, EDM, and honing equipment.
  • Clean and put away precision measuring and electronic testing equipment.
  • Clean and lubricate equipment as necessary, use correct type and amount of lubrication and apply lubricants neatly.
  • Fill out parts requisitions, tool requests, and other required paperwork.
  • Follow all written quality and other procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience setting up / running CNC lathes with Fanuc controls.
  • Experience machining stainless steel and non-ferrous materials.
  • Knowledge of machines with live tooling, tailstock & sub-spindle transfers highly desired.
  • Multi-turret machine experience a plus.
  • Feature Cam or Fusion 360 programming knowledge and experience is a plus
  • CAD/CAM knowledge is helpful but not required
  • Able to read micrometer, gauges and comparator. Also able to read blueprints.
  • Good computer skills and math skills
  • Good verbal & written communication skills
  • Good organization skills; able to prioritize and plan multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Self motivated; proactive in improving processes and anticipating needs/problems
  • Team player; able to work well with a wide variety of people
  • Quality and safety focused
  • Able to read and write fluently in English
  • Must be willing to work some overtime

  • We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Machine Builder to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling, installing, and testing complex machinery according to engineering drawings and specifications. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical principles, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and other technical documentation to understand build sequences and component specifications.
  • Assemble machinery components using hand tools, power tools (e.g., drills, grinders, saws), and specialized equipment.
  • Ensure all components are properly aligned, fitted, and secured.
  • Perform quality checks throughout the assembly process to ensure accuracy and adherence to specifications.
  • Install assembled machinery in designated locations, ensuring proper alignment and functionality.

Requirements:

  • Measurement and layout techniques
  • Assembly and installation procedures
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers). Good mechanical ability and manual dexterity are essential (able to stand for long periods of time).
  • Able to safely lift up to 50 pounds at varying frequencies.
  • Capable of adhering to Standard Work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
